FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions:
A: If you are 60+, please give us a call on 0208 649 5677 or  send us an email via our Contact Us page and we will get in touch with you to set up an assessment in your home or in our office as is convenient. Our application a very simple form and as soon as that is done and your subscription received, you're good to go.

Q: Can I apply for a subscription booking at any time of the year?

A: Yes, you can apply for a subscription place at any time but placement will be determined by availability.

Q: Why should people be interested in funding Charisma Plus Luncheon & Activities Club?

A: There is a steady increase in the over 60 population as people are living longer. This means that an ever-increasing amount of resources will be needed to ensure their continued welfare, eventual health and social care needs and other age-related conditions. With ageing comes retirement and subsequently feelings of isolation, neglect and depression if efforts are not made to combat these. Often these elders if they live on their own end up in Residential Care which can be more costly to both the family and the NHS. Charisma Plus aims to provide opportunities for these individuals to maintain their quality of life and independence for as long as possible.

Q: Where do you run the Activities Day Club?

A: The venue for all our Activities Clubs i.e. Charisma Plus as well as Link Up is Praise House Building, 145-151 London Road, Croydon CR0 2RG

Q: Do service-users have to live in particular areas to access your services?

A: All our services are open primarily, but not exclusively to people who live or work in Croydon.

Q: How can I access the Link Up Activities Club?

A: If you are an adult and you have a physical disability or sensory impairment or both, this club might be perfect for you. Please call our office on 02086495677 and we will arrange a brief assessment with you. If all goes well and you are happy to join us, you will be asked to pay your annual subscription fee and that's it - you're in!

Q: Why do you charge a subscription fee?

A: As you can imagine, even voluntary organisations need paid staff, venue hire fees, stationery and other running costs to be taken care of. In these days when the public purse is feeling the squeeze and there are funding cuts everywhere, more and more service users are being asked to contribute to the cost of service provision. So for us, your subscription fee contributions a small amount to our working fund.

Q: It is difficult for me to get out of my wheelchair because I have really stiff and painful joints, do you have access to coaches equipped with a chair lift and if so,would they also have chair clamps and disabled toilets on-board?

A: Yes. We have access to coaches with Chair Lifts, accessible on-board toilets as well as a storage area for folded chairs for those passengers who can transfer to coach seats but these are only available for our Day Trips. For our regular Club days, we can help you register with Dial-a-Ride which offers a door-to-door service for people who are not able to use public transport for various reasons.
